A change in career lead me to interior design
After many years working at Channel 5, BSkyB and various agencies I wasn’t feeling the love anymore. The excitement of the wild west that was the early days of the internet had worn off and I needed to find something more creative and fulfiling.
After a short amount of soul searching I found myself enrolling in a 2 years City & Guilds course in Interior Design. The second year was completed whilst juggling my first daughter Phoebe and lots of patience and support from my partner and wonderful grandparents. Getting a Distinction felt like a real reward and acknowledgement for all that hard work.
I was fortunate enough to get my first client quickly and putting into practice all that I’d learnt straight away was invaluable. The only thing was that the client was in London so that meant even more baby juggling!
It became clear to me very quickly that what my customers valued highly and what I loved was the relationship side of business, the getting to know my customers, what was the story behind getting in touch with me or rather not getting in touch sooner, how could I help them get what they wanted. The messages were very similar; busy lives, different opinions, worry, money, lack of confidence to name a few. I found it all fascinating and decided almost immediately that I wanted an interior design business that focused on insightful practices and well-being through design.
As my friends and colleagues will testify, I also wanted break away the idea that interior design is soley for those who have large houses and larger budgets. I wanted my verson of interior design to be for everyone, whether it’s a quick consultation or a more in-depth design solution, I find it all equally valid.
Some people need to address whole houses others single rooms but there are also wonderful clients out there who just need a helping hand, creative input, to address niggly problem areas that bother them every day and I’m happy to address it all.
As a reflection of my experience, it felt important to offer flexible and relevant services from consultations to house doctoring to full service interior design.
I genuinely hope these services make you want to pick up the phone and call us for some interiors help. We’d love to hear form you.
